And you will know us by the Trail of Dead…

Definitely one of the most savage band names in rock and known for a crushing live show, my brother Doug, our friend Nick and I took in the And you will know us by the Trail of Dead show at Black Cat on October 23. Bleary-eyed from my flight after just returning from the Iceland Airwaves Music festival in Reyjkavik, Iceland earlier that evening, my adrenaline was immediately pumping after these guys exploded into their set.

Trail of Dead played a range of tracks from their expansive library, including some from their incredible and heavily critically acclaimed record Sources Tags and Codes (a rare Pitchfork perfect 10), Worlds Apart and recently released album So Divided.   Highlights included Days of Being Wild, Source Tags & Codes, Wasted State of Mind and my personal favorite Will You Smile Again?.

This is an amazing band with loads of potential that should be seen live as soon as possible. When they are in DC or somewhere close again, I will surely be in attendance.

  1. If you like the drums on “Will You Smile Again?” or just drums in general, picture two drum kits on stage, facing each other, barely staying in tact they were getting rocked so hard. I had never seen that before – it was the peak of the show – that song gave me chills…
